To the left of this panel is the entire collection of CCSI 2U Storage Servers. Doubling the height from 1U to 2U or 3.5 inches of vertical rack space greatly increases the number of disk drives supported, up to twelve 3.5 inch hard drives or up to twenty four 2.5 inch drives can be installed in a 2U server. With currently available drives, that is either 24 terabytes with 2 terabyte 3.5 inch drives or 15.6 terabytes with 650 megabyte 2.5 inch drives. In addition to very impressive storage capacity, CCSI 2U Storage Servers can be configured with equally impressive computing power dual Intel Nehalem Xeon™ socket 1366 and dual AMD Opteron™ systems are available with your choice of dual core, quad core or, in the case of Opteron, six-core processors. Storage servers generally don’t qualify as green computing platforms but CCSI offers high efficiency power supplies to minimize environmental impact. If 15 terabytes is adequate storage, you can choose the 2.5 inch drive configuration to help minimize power consumption. Another alternative for increased performance and minimized power consumption is to utilize SSD drives. With all these possibilities, CCSI can surely build a 2U Storage Server that meets most of our customers needs in only 2U of rack space.
