  Back in the early days of Rackmount computers, 5U servers were a common size to allow sufficient room for enough 5.25” hard drives to provide adequate storage. Our current 5U server supports up to 48 2 TB hard drives for 96 terabytes in one server. We expect larger capacity hard drives to push the capacity beyond 100 terabyte in 2010. In addition to dual Intel Xeon motherboards, this server can also support 4 way six core AMD Opteron processor motherboards to provide processing power commensurate with the vast storage capacity.
