Atlanta, GA – August 15, 2006 - Computer & Control Solutions, Inc. (CCSI), a leading designer and manufacturer of custom, low-profile rack mount high density servers, announced today that its high performance rack mount server family will be equipped with Next-Generation AMD Opteron™ processors with energy efficient DDR2 memory and AMD Virtualization™ (AMD-V™) to deliver improved performance-per-watt capabilities within the same thermal envelope as its previous AMD Opteron processor-based servers.  High capacity, high performing 1U-2P, 2U-2P, 3U-2P, 4U-2P, 3U-4P and 4U-4P rack mount servers supporting up to 18 Terabytes of storage are slated to ship immediately.

This largely eliminates the need for air conditioning, thus yielding huge savings in operational expense.  The simple fact is that the more thermally efficient a system is, the less it costs to operate and, overall, will provide a longer service life with less downtime.  This is why CCSI puts so much engineering effort into our cooling systems, unique to each chassis and motherboard combination.

CCSI today announces immediate availability of our full line of AMD Thermally Tested 1U through 4U rack mount systems for dual core Opteron processors.  As the manufacturer of the original certified 1U and 2U Dual AMD Athlon chassis and an AMD launch partner for the Opteron processor in 2003, CCSI continues its leadership position by providing the best in thermally correct (TM) system design with six different AMD Thermally Tested systems for Dual Core AMD Opteron Processors.  The selections include 1U systems in the RC-0102, RC-0103, RC-0104 and Clusteron D chassis as well as the 2U RC-0222, supporting up to 8 hot swap hard drives and fixed or redundant power supply option and our RC-0452QO 4U Quad Opteron with 12 hot swap drive bays.

AMD dual core Opteron systems can yield up to an 80% increase in system performance over single core Opteron systems.  However, the increased “horse power” comes at a slight increase in heat dissipation (roughly 6 Watts per CPU).  Many of the low profile systems on the market are marginal in their cooling capacity to begin with and cannot handle this additional cooling load.  A system that runs at elevated temperatures suffers from instability issues and offers a shorter service life.  For higher reliability and longer service life, CCSI strongly recommends customers purchase only systems that have been thermally tested by AMD to assure adequate cooling capacity.

CCSI adds the AMD OPTERON™ processor to its CLUSTERON™ supercomputer cluster family.

CCSI (Computer & Control Solutions, Inc.) today announced that it is now shipping its CLUSTERON™ high-density Super Cluster Computer with AMD Opteron™ processor dual CPU nodes.


    The CCSI Clusteron™ is a Beowulf Super Cluster Computer developed for the new
AMD Opteron™ dual processor technology.  It is designed for supercomputing applications, high density server installations, Beowulf clusters and other compute-intensive applications.  The CCSI Clusteron™  provides the high density and extreme cooling that will support the
AMD Opteron processors at higher speeds into the future.


“The new multi-processor AMD Opteron™ technology, with HyperTransportTM technology bus, 64-bit architecture, and simultaneous backward compatibility has brought a high-power computing engine to the mainstream.  The CCSI Clusteron™ was developed, utilizing our expertise in thermal management, as a platform for High Power Computing engines. • The 55W ACP Six-Core AMD Opteron HE processors are currently shipping for 2-, 4- and 8-P systems and available today in new systems from HP, addressing the needs of dynamic, performance hungry and power constrained data centers.  Systems from additional OEMs are expected to come to market throughout Q309.

• These new processors meet the market demand for highly scalable, power-efficient systems that are especially well suited for Web serving and cloud computing workloads and they are available with the same AMD Virtualization™ (AMD-V™) technology and AMD-P technology features and advanced I/O capabilities as the standard power Six-Core AMD Opteron processors.
