Rackmount Keyboard & Monitor
One of the major reasons for the migration from the traditional pedestal servers to rackmouted servers is to save space. Since servers basically store and serve up data for clients, it is not necessary to have a monitor permanently attached to most servers, and many of them are run “headless.” Eliminating the monitor greatly increases space efficiency in the server room, freeing up space for more servers. However, for upgrading and maintenance tasks it is helpful to have a keyboard, mouse and monitor readily available. Enter the Rackmount Keyboard and Monitor drawer. With this invention, you have a keyboard, a glide pad or trackball pointing device and a 15,” 17,” or 19” monitor, all in only 1U of rack space. PS/2, USB and SUN Micro interfaces for the keyboard and pointing device are available. Increased functionality is also available with 8 port or 16 port and IP KVM switches built in. With the appropriate KVM hardware and cabling, you can manage up to 256 rack mounted servers from a single 1U keyboard and monitor drawer, even remotely over the internet with the IP KVM feature! As the utilization of rackmounted computer servers is increased, the addition of a Rackmount Keyboard and Monitor Drawer provides the utmost in space efficiency.
